Actress Jessica Schwarz has most recently been appearing in the second season of Matthias Schweighöfer‘s Amazon show You Are Wanted, a modern and fast paced thriller. But international audiences might recognize her from feature films like Tom Tykwer‘s Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. So this month, let’s learn German with the films of Jessica Schwarz.
About Jessica Schwarz
Jessica Schwarz was born on May 5, 1977, in Erbach, Germany before growing up in Michelstadt. Schwarz got a start in the entertainment industry early on with a job at a German teen magazine. From there, Schwarz was a full-fledged model before becoming a VJ for VIVA, a German language music television channel. By the early 2000s, Schwarz had moved into acting.
Romy
In this 2009 television movie, Schwarz portrays famed German-French actress Romy Schneider. Although Schneider only lived to 43, she is still a big name to this day. Schneider is known for big roles such as in Death Watch with Harvey Keitel as well as her depiction of Sissi, the Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The biopic highlights the most important portions of Schneider’s life.
Kammerflimmern (Off Beat)
Schwarz stars as November alongside Matthias Schweighöfer in the 2004 romantic drama Kammerflimmern. Schweighöfer portrays Paul (nicknamed Crash), a paramedic who is becoming numb from the seemingly never-ending cycle of accidents that his job exposes him to. Only when Crash is in his dreams that he gets some respite. And it is in those dreams that he develops a relationship with November.
Actor Florian Lukas also co-stars in the film.
Nichts bereuen (No Regrets)
Actor Daniel Brühl stars as Daniel in Nichts bereuen as a recent high school graduate. Daniel is in love with his former classmate, Luca (portrayed by Schwarz). However, he isn’t very popular with the opposite sex. Luca, in particular, doesn’t seem to notice him. As he pursues his civil service assignment, he decides he needs to do something to capture Luca’s attention. The film, from 2001, is known as No Regrets in English.
